Sounds like fun. Can't wait to see the videos!

I can't wait until everything is finished! It's going to be such a cool
    setup.

to stick with what I'm used to and like, though, and Arch has been
just that for well over a decade now.

For sure, once you get used to something it's hard to change. I have
almost no short term memory. On my cheap china brand laptop when I first install a distro I have to type pnpacpi=off acpipnp=off on the command line
as I can not remember for 1 second what order that goes in. hahaha I got
tired of looking it up so I type both. hahaha I even put both in my
    grub kernal options.

    Nice collection.

    Thanks!

Because it has to be different. That's
    how you know it's special.

LOL! Nick told us what it means, so I suppose I'm not as
upset with it... I just don't get why it can't be install
    just to make things easier.

Yeah, pretty crazy. You also know who is running Gentoo, or FreeBSD, or OpenBSd, or Debian, or Linux Mint, or <insert any distro here>, because they will tell you that they are running them.

I'm fairly certain that's exactly what the conversation was about, though.. :|

I'm not sure what you mean here. There was no step added. Sync'ing your repo, installing a package or packages, updating your system, even searching for packages (query) is all based of the '-S' option, with more options. '-Syu' '-Syyu' etc. Doing quite a few operations there with that and still typing less than 'install' :)

Then, removing a package and whatever other options that can be chained off of it is '-R'.

Either way, I'm not here to argue about it, or tell you what is better than the other. There's so many distros available nowadays, and new ones being created all the time. I enjoy the freedom to try whatever ones look appealing to me, and then stick with what I like best.

Aside from that, I still have a Windows 11 machine, and don't see being able to get rid of it as long as the games I play still go unsupported for Linux without some sort of hackery. I'm not trying to run them with a "crutch" like Proton (is it even supported any more?) or whatever, or tweak a bunch of settings to get them to work, etc.

    Regards,
    Nick

oh i thought you had to do that every time you installed something.

i've only used pacman a few times. I don't really need to install a lot of things and i'm running ubuntu on my server. it's about as setup as it's going ot be. i've messed with tons of distros, i used to fuck with linux all the time. it will never replace windows and i think developers should stop
    trying to copy windows.

i'm not arguing, i was just asking.
i dont care what other people do with their stuff.
