  • AVG Free vs. AVAST Free

From CRNG@1:396/4 to All on Sun May 14 21:26:38 2017
    From: CRNG <noemail@atthisdomain.gov>

    I'm considering AVG Free http://www.avg.com/ww-en/free-antivirus-download?ECID=ad:go:se:en-us_atv_sch_brn_exc_adw&gclid=CIKKp6z_8dMCFdJMDQoduYgJKQ&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CKPTwaz_8dMCFcl0wQod3qsGqg

    or Avast Free https://www.avast.com/en-us/index?device=c&ppc=a1&gclid=CIyZhtP_8dMCFc1WDQode1EIaQ&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CKyFjNP_8dMCFVBjwQodnhMM7g

Any comments or recommendations? Perhaps a third option?

I've notice however that AVG and Avast merged last year. I wonder
    what that will do.

I prefer Vipre (payware). But whatever you decide, make sure you have
three or four other products on hand, and scan your machine with them at =

    least every other week.

    Make your own choice:

Look at the track record of your candidates over the last years.

    I prefer Eset.

360totalprotection. Had it here for a while, and works great.

It replaced Avast, which replaced AVG.

For me, it's avast! Free Antivirus. Do a custom install and uncheck all
Tools and the Mail Shield as well. If the constant pop-ups bother you,
then you can check Gaming Mode (= no more pop-ups).

I agree that Avast Free is generally reckoned to be the best
But make sure you switch all the other crud off, it clashes with to many other Apps/programes.

In the charts I have seen, AVG finishes very low, usually only beating MS Defender.
