    Just 6 here. I haven't needed 5 for a couple of years.

    +1

    so some fix golded :)
For now. Personally, if it mattered, I'd update golded to ncurses-6 instead. However no working utf-8 so I'll stick with vim. :-)

would not help have full fleged utf8 when old precompiled amiga software only have latin-1

my msged is working, just me still need to have husky from git,
    not cvs
Does it have utf-8 support yet? Will it ever?

if people understand why its not happend we could all use latin-1

    Regards Benny

    Hey Benny!

would not help have full fleged utf8 when old precompiled amiga
    software only have latin-1

Definetly not for two very good reasons; no amiga hardware and no such thing as latin-1.

if people understand why its not happend we could all use latin-1

Nope. We have no use for things that do not exist, such as latin-1. Personally I vote for 7-bit ascii characters and to hell with stinkin' human languages.

A bunch of heathen bastards if you ask me. :-)

    Hey Benny!

    please dont fix msged then

No problem. Same with golded. There was never a plan to fix either of them since they are more DOS-think then the idea I went with vim and utf-8. I can even get 8-bit eharacter sets working using the proper, standardized character sets without altering a thing ... other than some bash scripts that is.

    in fidoterms latin-1 does exists

What is it then and why are some fido sysops using CP1252 while flying the LATIN-1 flag. This is assuming that LATIN-1 is indeed ISO-8859-1 which it isn't. According to IANA it is LATIN1.

    in iconv it does not

That is because the glibc people decided to follow reality. There is no LATIN-1. It simply doesn't exist.

i dont have references to why amiga did it, more or less maybe
filesystem was build with latin-1 in mind

Or they just didn't do their homework and followed the DOS-think crowd while they merrily skipped their way into obscurity.

If you have a keymap for Amiga's co-called LATIN-1 that will tell the tale. I've never had anything to do with anything Amiga ever, but I am willing to guess it's really LATIN1 (ISO-8859-1).

feel free to not get an amiga emulator on linux

No worries. If I do emulate anything it would be a Linux BBS based on busybox, gcc-4 and friends. It didn't have utf-8 working though.

    Maurice

    Out of interest I have a Raspberry pi3B+ and a Pi4 8Gb.
I have bullseye 32 bit on the 3 and had Bullseye 64 bit on the 4.

I just built golded-plus on lfs (very minimal) without issues.

Installed Ubuntu 22.04.1 on the 4 and rebuilt Golded, again with warning msgs but again it will not run just comes back immediately.

Is it finding your golded.cfg? I "export GOLDED=/usr/local/etc" where my golded.cfg is and it works well for me.

If I forget that export that's what happens, golded just doesn't run, it returns you to the command prompt.
