• OpenMandriva shits me to tears

    I liked it years ago, BUT. Upgrading it always seems to break something. Version 6 came out, so I took a punt.
    With the latest kernel, it goes into a boot loop. Try the second newest,
    get blank screen. Going back, it only works with old kernel 5.16 and furthermore only with lxdm display manager. With sddm, get streaks of scrambled colour, maybe not setting graphics card properly. With gdm,
    get a GUI greeter, but can't login - it says password is wrong.

    I do prefer a rolling distribution, tend to not get breaking changes
    once a year and for me at least never had issues with my 20 year old installation that is up to date.

    I used to have Gentoo for 20 years, the installation was the one and
    only install I made, sure I did migrate it to newer hard drives/ssd a
    few times, just got bored of the compile time on some packages I used,
    so switched to a binary distribution based on Arch.
