    Yup, still waiting.

It's not surprising the Apple trolls know nothing about anything, but even
so, since -hh hasn't acted like the rest of the ignorant trolls, note that
this has been discussed & tested for a long time on the Windows 11 ng.

What's funny about that is the Apple trolls only look at Apple marketing brochures to find all their information they think they know about stuff.

For Android, there is also no requirement whatsoever for an account.

Google has always allowed you to obtain software from the Google Play
Store WITHOUT setting up an account, and of course, anywhere else too.

Which needs to be reconcile against this, which says that you do:

you need a Google account." <https://helpguide.sony.net/mobile/xperia-5/v1/en/contents/why-do-i-need-a-google-account.html>

Again (and again) it's no longer shocking the Apple trolls know absolutely nothing of everything they think they know anything about such as this.

Who is that stupid as to think you need a Google account on Android?
I haven't had a Google account on Android for years and mine works fine.

All you Apple trolls live on Mount Stupid (in Dunning Kruger inexact
terms). You're so stupid you don't even realize how stupid you are.

Bear in mind I'm not stupid.
    You're stupid.
    I'm not.

    Actually, you're incredibly stupid.

The fact is setting up a Google account on Android is NOT needed to have
full functionality (such as downloading & installing apps from the App
Store). I do it all the time and I've been doing it for many years.

Note that adding a Microsoft account isn't needed on Windows either.

It's only Apple who murders your privacy.

Plus of course the tracking integral to Google Chrome (see current
lawsuit) where it effectively doxxes its users without them consenting.

I don't have Google Chrome on my Android phone and it works just fine.
I have *plenty* of web browsers - but none of them are Google Chrome.

What's no longer shocking is you Apple trolls know nothing about anything.
And yet... you make these absurd claims... which everyone knows are wrong.

    Seriously.

I've never met people this stupid in the flesh in my entire life.

Alan's already published instructions on how to set up an iPad without registering for an Apple account: where did you prove he was incorrect?

Not really the point, which was that one can be identified by means
other than a registration account. It is known that Chrome has this,
but how do you know that your non-Chrome browser isn't doing it too?

I fully agree with you, but find this a losing battle. People will continue
to engage with these toxic troll touting some rationalization of countering
the bullshit, but in reality they just add to the problem. Starve the

It doesn't matter. I've found many other groups where there are more
    people who are:

    -polite
-humble and/or genuinely subject matter experts (and not snide about it)
-can talk about a shortcoming of iPhones v. Android w/o making it a
black and white battle for the souls of the human race
-broader range of valuable inputs and insights
-no trolls (not very long anyway)
-no moderation delay - but a-holes get ejected within hours if not minutes

So I tell myself at least once per week not to bother coming here ...
and one day (probably soon) I will heed my own advice. And by "here" I
    mean usenet (I use about 6 NG's).

A surprising "venue" that I'd never used is Telegram. A local group of
tech enthusiasts use it and I've joined in for a narrow participation
around a particular system. (Très nerd).
I find the Telegram format to be very pleasant. Seems to be moderated
but I don't see moderation occurring.

Reddit is a vast area and it's hard to find "the right place" (I don't
spend enough time on it, so hard to find "the right place").

Same, because the signal to noise ratio here is substandard due to the unchecked trolling activity. Look at the group's current activity as an example.

Reddit is a vast area and it's hard to find "the right place" (I don't

You have some control over what shows up in your Home feed on Reddit. So
your place can look however you want in that respect. And there are
moderators (though that can cut both ways).

Once you use it a bit more regularly it's not that hard; r/ios and r/iphone
are decent. Trolls like arlen just can't survive there. The problem with technical subs is that they are full of newbies asking non-technical
    questions.

There's a niche usenet could fill if it wasn't for all the trolls and bickering.
