I've reset the router's IP address three times lately. Each time, it was a sequence of steps I took to do it and I guess I just got lucky each of
those three times at getting it right.
Now, I've tried to replicate those steps about five times, and can't seem
to get the damn sequence right any longer.
I'm trying to change the IP address of my main desktop computer, which is named XPS in the steps below.
Here:
1. unplug ethernet connection to XPS computer
2. turn off router
3. plug ethernet from router into laptop or printer
4. turn on router \ ensure wired connection to laptop or printer
5. uplug ethernet connection from laptop or printer
6. turn off router
7. plug ethernet cable back into XPS computer
8. restart router
is what I'm trying now and it doesn't work.
I realize I could unplug the router for 24hrs. or so and get a new IP
address, but who wants to wait that long?
