trash, including a motherboard with an Intel Core i5 processor that can achieve speeds of up to 3.9 gigahertz and a graphics card from what was
    once a gaming PC.
    What happened?

The Redditor shared a photo of their find with the r/trashtreasures
    community.

"Wanna know the best part? I just tested it and everything works," the
Reddit user wrote in a follow-up comment. "This is an entire gaming PC I
found in the trash. This is crazy I struck legit gold."

Fellow Reddit users expressed shock at the wasteful disposal. "It's
insane what people throw away," wrote one commenter.

    Oh, I wish!

I mean, I _have_ found stuff like that. Nothing quite so new and
powerful, but five years ago I did find a five-year old gaming PC
sitting on the curb (I still have it, but mostly because I like its
chassis design).I didn't overclock it though.

I never really was into overclocking, actually. In fact, if anything
I'd prefer to underclock hardware. I'm more interested in longevity
than performance. Or rather, I'd rather buy overpowered hardware today
so it is still capable tomorrow.

The few times I have overclocked, the performance gains were so
minimal as to not make it worth it anyway. Oh, sure, maybe I was now
running 400MHz faster than the CPU was rated for, but it's not like I
really SAW the difference in actual usage. Whee! I get a game that's
10FPS faster. It's already 60+ FPS. It just never seemed worth it to
    me.

Come to think of it, that trash-puter I mentioned above was already
rated at 3.4GHz stock. That makes the 3.9GHz mentioned in the story
sound a lot less impressive... unless it was originally only 2GHz or
something. Remember when we were all wondering if computers would ever
be able to break the 1GHz barrier?
