In terms of gameplay, it's an open-world survival game that has you
traverse through a procedurally generated wilderness, with a far-away
weather tower your goal. It's sort of a prettier, less-lethal "The
Long Dark".
Me, I'm a sucker for any game that lets me wander through a pretty
forest, although I've little interest in the survival mechanics, and
the words 'procedurally generated' sends a shiver down my spine.
Apparently this game is designed by the same guys who did PUBG, which
isn't as much as a draw for me as you might think. Visually, it
reminds me a lot of that old Unigine "Valley" benchmark,* which is
probably not a recommendation seeing as that's a 12-year old program.
But I'm gonna give it a chance anyway.
What can I say, I just like virtual nature-hikes. Sure, it can't beat
the real thing, but at least there are no mosquitos.
(Just got back from a quick play. I got lost in the woods thirty
seconds after I left the starting house, then got food poisoning
eating something squirrelly I found on the back shelf. Ten out of ten,
very realistic. Controls suck, though ;-)
