• FREE GAMES: "Hidden Folks" and "Totally Reliable Devlievery Service"

It's not been a good day, this Thursday so far, but at least I can
count on Epic to toss a free game or two our direction. Life's always
a bit better when The Number goes up

    * Hidden Folks
    https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/hidden-folks-239d16
It's a hidden object game. The art is nice, and the map
has some interactivity to it (so you can open doors and
similar in your search for the eponymous hidden folk) but
in the end it's still the same "find things in this
cluttered background image" gameplay that's pretty much
unchanged since those children magazines of our youth. I
played one two or three years ago; it was a marginally
enjoyable five minute experience. I don't really need to
    revisit it, though.

    * Totally Reliable Delivery Service https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/totally-reliable-delivery-service
Despite the name, this game is really more of a 'ragdoll
physics simulator' ala "Goat Simulator" or "Surgeon Simulator",
and honestly, I find those get pretty tedious pretty quickly.
Once you get past the "huh-huh-huh, things go flying if you
ram into them quick!" stage, there's just not much to the game.
The mechanics aren't that interesting, and the controls are
    shite.

Well, I never said Epic gave us GOOD free games. But The Number /can/
go up... if you're not picky. And am I picky?

Claimed, but I doubt I will ever play it!

Is adding only one game out of two good? :P

I would have gotten that one because I like drawings like that, but
    $15 now. No thanks.

Apparently I am not picky as I added both but I will never play either
one. They are both awful games if your description is accurate.

I don't know if they're _awful_ (although the reviews for TRDS aren't
    great), but they're fairly niche.

Personally, I think that the "Hidden Folk" game sounds like it's
pretty good... _if_ you like hidden object games. The interactive
background seems an interesting addition to the genre, and the artwork
is nice. But in the end, it's _still_ just a hidden object game; it's
short, lacks challenge and isn't particularly intellectually
stimulating (there's a reason these sorts games are most often found
in children magazines!). If you were had to play one hidden object
game, "Hidden Folk" sounds like it would be a great example... but
it's not something most people seek out.

I can't mount as stalwart a defense of "Totally Reliable Delivery
Service". There's probably an audience for them, but the whole
wacky-physics sandbox games seem incredibly tiresome to me. After five
minutes of wowing at the physics effects, there's no draw to them. And
once you've seen it in one game, there's hardly reason to seek it out
in others. But others might like it, and perhaps they could try and
    explain the appeal.

    The usual disclaimers apply.

Odd, because over here, using both the app and the provided link, the
loaded page indicate its free. Refresh your caches, perhaps? Or maybe
    you're using a VPN and putting yourself in a non-eligible country (I
don't know if those exist for these freebies, put perhaps something to
    check?)
