    MISTY32.386 - This VxD driver allows 32-bit disk access for the
    IBM ThinkPad 700/720 series under MS Windows(tm) 3.1x and MS Windows
    95(tm).

    For use with ONSITE and IBM High-Performance 240MB, 340MB and 520MB hard
    hard drive options only. Due to interface and performance limitations,
    it will NOT work with IBM 80MB, 120MB, 160MB, or other manufacturers
    drives.

    Because this driver works with IBM's 240MB and 340MB hard drive options, permission has been granted to distribute the driver and associated
    files via
    the IBM ThinkPad BBS and CompuServe forum for use by ThinkPad 700/720 users.

    This software is provided "AS IS" with no warranty, expressed or implied. Please read LICENSE.TXT prior to installing this software.

    Driver Features
    -----------------

    - High-Performance: Up to twice the speed of compatibility-mode (BIOS)
    disk access under Windows(tm) 3.1x and Windows 95(tm).

    Note! Even without this driver, the 520MB drive is almost twice the speed
    of the IBM 120MB unit (data-transfer rate 1.5 MB/s vs. 0.8 MB/s).

    - Supports MicroChannel shared IRQ handling to allow normal (real mode)
    operation of the docking station SCSI adapter and attached devices.

    - Advanced Power Management (APM) support allows use of 32-bit disk access
    while using suspend/resume and hard drive power-management features.

    - Plug-and-Play functionality under Windows 95(tm).

    For Maximum Performance...
    ----------------------------

    For maximum performance in Windows(tm) or OS/2(tm), we recommend:

    - The OnSite 75-MHz IBM Blue-Lightning(tm) upgrade for the ThinkPad 700/720.
    This upgrade was planned, but never offered by IBM. Consequently, the
    upgrade is fully supported by IBM's standard BIOS and Reference Disks.

    - The OnSite High-Performance 520MB hard drive, this is the only upgrade
    currently supporting 32-bit disk access in Windows 3.1x, Windows 95,
    and IBM OS/2.

    Installation (Windows 3.1x)
    -----------------------------

    1. Open the SYSTEM.INI file using Notepad, Sysedit or the DOS Editor.

    2. Locate the [386Enh] section and remove the following line (if present):

    device=*wdctrl

    3. Add the following lines to the [386Enh] section:

    32BitDiskAccess=off
    device=*int13
    device=misty32.386

    4. Save SYSTEM.INI and copy MISTY32.386 to the ..\WINDOWS\SYSTEM catalog.

    5. Restart Windows and select '32-bit Disk Access' and '32-bit File Access'
    in the 'Virtual Memory' options dialog box.

    6. Restart Windows to enable 32-bit disk access.

    Installation (Windows 95)
    ---------------------------

    1. Open 'Add New Hardware' in the 'Control Panel' group, choose NOT to
    auto-detect new hardware, then select 'Hard Disk Controllers' and click
    on 'Have Disk...'. Follow the instructions to install the driver.

    2. Ignore any warnings about resource conflicts.
    (these will normally be resolved by restarting Windows 95).

    3. Restart Windows and check 'Performance' under 'System' in the
    'Control Panel' group: drive [C:] should now be using 32-bit disk
    access.
    Open 'Device Manager' to check that the ThinkPad 700/720 driver
    is present and correctly installed.

    Note: To disable the driver, it must be manually excluded from SYSTEM.INI
