Hello,
does anyone have experience with old Thecus NAS devices?
I have an N4100EVO I got cheap on an auction that seems to have a
non-standard password set. The device does not have a reset button.
I found the info on the Thecus website (hidden in the firmware upgrade
notes) that a factory reset can be done via the buttons on the LCD
screen, but I have not found any more information on that. The manual
for the device does not mention that at all.
After some digging I have found that the Thecus devices of the time automatically will run a script named factory_reset.sh if it's on a
connected USB drive, but my tries to reset the password so far haven't
done anything but freeze the boot process in the status "Loading
Driver". So it's doing something, just not what it's supposed to do.
