Caution Regarding EtreCheck (from a Former Paying User)
Just a warning for fellow Mac users:
I purchased the EtreCheck Power User Package, which claims to include
priority support — but I never received any response, despite multiple polite emails. The developer, John Daniel (aka Etresoft), is entirely unresponsive and has no visible support infrastructure beyond canned FAQs.
This lack of communication becomes even more concerning when you realize:
EtreCheck is not available through the App Store any more.
The developer provides no verifiable company details or physical
address.
He routinely refuses to engage with users who ask critical
questions — sometimes becoming openly hostile on forums.
The privacy policy and related documentation haven’t been updated
for years.
I originally used EtreCheck in good faith to help troubleshoot macOS
issues, but I now feel the developer operates with little
accountability. I’ve since removed the software from my system and would strongly advise others to consider alternatives, especially those that
are open-source, better supported, or at least published by transparent developers.
*Caveat emptor*!
