• Baker's "truth" about racing record

Cannot resist, I ran across this little gem of a disputable brag in
    Google Groups archive.

    https://groups.google.com/g/comp.sys.mac.advocacy/c/IFme3FArIu0/m/NQci6WDZBAAJ

Look it up, Alan, quoting us:

    Me:

"> Dave McKay and Doug Floer returned for the debut 2023 race. Another
quick driver, Robert Fraser, also showed up. The three of them were
the best of the remaining field by several seconds per lap. McKay and
Floer have been faster that Alan Baker in almost all the races where
they competed. It's probably going to be a fun summer of loser-Baker excuses. I'm sure Alan will brag about having the almost record FF
    lap!"

    Alan:

"The fact remains that I'm the second fastest FF driver ever around Mission.

Dave McKay and I went head-to-head all of 2019. In total, there were 27 sessions when we were both on track.

I was faster than Dave in 20 of those sessions. I was fastest FF overall
    in 17 of those sessions."

End quotes and now fact check.

So what was Alan even talking about here? He and Dave McKay were in only
16 championship points races together. Source:

    https://www.sccbc.net/racers/club-championship/2019-sccbc-club-standings/

So Alan's "sessions" are not all races. Maybe no races at all. I'm
guessing qualifying and practice but will accept Alan's numbers even
though I could fact check at:

    https://speedhive.mylaps.com/organizations/164366

If you examine the 2019 championship points you will see who beat who in
the ACTUAL races where driver skill in ACTUAL racing is demonstrated.
More points = higher placement. 2019 points:

Alan did place a close #2 behind Dave McKay in total season points by
running in one more more race. But, against Dave he placed higher in
only 5 of the 16 head-to-head RACING opportunities. Not awful, but not
    20 out of 27 either.

So be warned, Alan is fond of slanting his comments to feed his ego and impress an audience, even as small as CSMA.

Alan - feel free to repeat your one fast lap story and show us how you
can go fast before the racing starts. You ARE pretty good when it does
    not count!

Also, feel free to inform CMSA as to how many SCCBC championships you
    have won.

What a liar you are. Throwing out misleading and irreverent numbers to
impress others. Bad, very bad. You drove harder than other drivers in
practice and qualifying, then could not back it up when competing
against those same drivers in a race. Yet you present yourself as
    completely honest.

I was looking forward to seeing results after the likes of McKay, Floer
and McColl were not there. Then you went away too.
